About Marissa

Marissa Lemus, LCSW is a dedicated therapist who brings a unique perspective to her practice as a biracial clinician. Her lived experiences navigating identity, resilience, and belonging deeply inform her work, allowing her to connect with clients through authenticity, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.

Marissa believes that while life can be difficult, each person has the strength and resilience to grow, heal, and create a more fulfilling life. She views therapy as both a supportive and challenging process, one that requires self-reflection and honest conversation. As a biracial therapist, she recognizes the importance of creating a space where people of color feel seen and valued, while also ensuring that every client—regardless of background—feels heard, supported, and empowered.

She specializes in working with adults navigating depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, trauma, and moments of crisis. Marissa is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based approach that emphasizes mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. She has also completed training in  Somatic Abolitionism, which supports her ability to help clients explore the impact of race, identity, and embodiment in their healing journey.

Marissa is committed to providing a compassionate, inclusive, and safe environment where clients feel understood and supported as they work toward meaningful change. Her goal is to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them as they move toward the life they want to create.
